In the early 1990s I introduced collage into my work, which until then had focused primarily found wood painting constructions. Collage quickly became a predominant media, sometimes displacing painting and drawing altogether. “Records 1990s” includes some examples. I made many records at the time (even a few double albums). Working on them intrigued me for reasons including using objects created to record sound to explore visual ideas; the meaning records hold and impart; the formal challenges creating circular compositions; and creating with objects that were so central to my youth and had become anachronistic. More recent records explore the topics of series such as Current Wars and Conflicts and Amazon Region, and include collage, acrylic and ink.
